Magnaflow is a good performing muffler and isnt to loud.
Pypes Race Pro is also good. Pretty quite till you step on it... Flowmaster are crap. obnoxious and don't flow that well.. read many articals that say so.. Just my opinions.. Last edited by Bazooka; 10-08-2008 at 02:29 PM. |

Re: What Exhaust are you all running, and how do u like it??
I used to run Flowmaster 40's on my truck with 2.5" pipe, heddman hedders. Ran good, sounded good.. The one thing I didn't like was the resonation in the cab at cruising speed. I've since changed them. Since I went to a more "old school" theme on my truck, I wanted it to sound old school. Now I have 24" Cherry Bomb glass packs with Bellflower tips. They are pretty mellow at idle, and sound good at cruise speeds, but they will rap real nice when you jump on the throttle. I'm much happier with this setup.

I am a die hard flowmaster guy. I think they sound great and if aimed out the side in front of the rear tires, dont seem to have the resenace in the cab, to me anyway, and they are under a burban. Not a big fan of glasspacks, but spintech's sound pretty good too.

Re: What Exhaust are you all running, and how do u like it??
I have Walker Super Turbos on my truck, and I love them! I'm running a 388 with 2 1/2 inch pipes and turndowns over the rear axle. I also have 3 inch tips.
My truck has a very wonderful mellow tone, and you don't have any trouble hearing it when you get on it! It's nice and quiet when crusing, but not dead silent either. The mufflers are 13 years or so old though! I probably need to be running a larger exhaust, but I don't feel like changing it yet. I don't care for glasspacks at all. They're too "poppy" and loud for me. Flowmasters are ok,but everyone has them. Last edited by AllenKarber; 10-11-2008 at 12:56 AM. |

If you have a tight spot, spintech's rule. I have one on my '01 Silverado, and its it tucked up between the framerails, and doesn't hang down below them. Sounds good, but my truck is real quiet already from the cats.

Re: What Exhaust are you all running, and how do u like it??
I have the set-up that kdrodworks mentioned, with 40 series Flows and its very resonant. I drove across Phoenix and I was beaten down by the time I got home. My truck has NO sound proofing and is part of the problem. I think they are rather raspy but would be mellower with full length tailpipes. My friend has a similar system with 3-chambered Flows and its very mellow until you step on it...it sounds killer with a blown 383.
I also have Flows on my 'Burb and they are nice, with full pipes to the rear.

Re: What Exhaust are you all running, and how do u like it??
Well I am running a ghetto, low-budget exhaust system.
It consists of block-hugger header hung off a 480 Comp Cammed small-block. I am running 2" x 1/8" wall round tubing for pipe () into 2 chamber Flows, with left-over tips removed from an #ord F-150.... - - Sounds healthy...good lope at idle...I want to change it to 12" glass-packs positioned up by the engine though. - -

Re: What Exhaust are you all running, and how do u like it??
Flowmasters here too. I have them on both my classics. My truck has the 40 series and my Riviera has 50 series. I understand the new Delta flow mufflers are a little quieter. I don't have much resonance problems on my truck, but my car has quite a bit from 1800-2200 rpm. I think it is because the passenger compartment is much smaller on a truck, so less to resonate.
I have heard that Magnaflows are supposed to not resonate as much. If you really hate resonace you could run 4 mufflers. The factory setup on my Riviera 455 was two turbo mufflers under the rear seat and then two resonators (smaller mufflers) under the trunk. I couldn't even hear the motor! You could do an experiment and just tie in some glasspacks to act as resonators before or after your real mufflers.

Re: What Exhaust are you all running, and how do u like it??
I was thinking Flowmasters too. I had a 40 series and it was a little too loud but I was maybe thinkin 50 or 60 just to give it a good sound when getin on it.

The Bassani Real Street also made nice power without being too loud. Anybody have any feedback on these mufflers? |
