Just wondering if anyone knew of any model and makes of different vehicle gas tanks that will work for mounting in the rear underneath the frame. I was told that ford rangers had gas tanks that fit well. just wanting some suggestions that I could find in a salvage yard. thanks

Any 68-72 blazer or suburban will fit. You will loose your spare tire. Be careful which tank you choose because the sending unit must be capatible with your gas gauge.

Re: help with gas tanks that will fit in the rear
I put an S10 Blazer tank in my wife's '68. 20 gallon and the sender works with the factory guage. But, I had to notch the frame rails a little on each side. A friend of mine has a Bronco II tank in his and it fits real nice. He bought his sending unit through a local street rod builder.

I've used a '73 Suburban tank, but it does stick out past the frame rails and you'll need to build a frame of some sort in order to protect it against a rearend-er.

Re: help with gas tanks that will fit in the rear
I too just used a stock blazer tank. LMC has a kit that comes with the sending unit, straps and bolts to just bolt it in. Mine went in with no problem. You will have to modify one of the braces on the bed for it to fit and figure out where you want the filler to be.

Any of the BB vendors will carry that same Blazer/'burb kit.It might even be a little cheaper thru them.

I've got a 90 Isuzu trooper tank. Its a nice it but the sender is gonna be interesting. I'm switching to all aftermarket guages so I don't think it will be a problem.
