Re: new 87

It is a Silverado but has a vinyl or leather seat . I thought all Silv had cloth seats in 87 . Also I wonder why it has a staggered tire setup on an 11 original mile truck . It is beautiful though . 20K . I dont think it was that price new . My sister-in-law has the same truck she bought new . It is red with the charcoal interior and hers is cloth .

Re: new 87

I also think the the tires and seats are kinda of funny for being on a 11 mile silverado and a 87 silverado was a lot less than 20 grand, my dads 91 silverado ecsb fully loaded with 350, 700r4 was $20,000 new

Re: new 87

My GM brochure from 1987 list both Custon Vinyl and Custom Cloth seats as standard in the Silverado. Clueless how they decided which vehicles got what. My 88 V30 stickered at $22,164.00

The brochure only makes cab distinction on seat trim availability in the Custom Deluxe and Scottsdale trim levels. The Custom Vinyl Bench and Custom Cloth Bench noted as only choices,(both standard), in Silverado trim with no cab reference.

My 88 V30 is a regular cab and only has 12K on it. I switched the focus of my hobbies shortly after getting it.

the tire struck me too, unless the original wheels and tires are put up. Who had the money and the foresight to buy and park that truck? this seems suspect but who knows...weirder things have happened

I bought a new 87 silverado with 305 auto no power windows or locks, it had cruise control with a vinyl seat. I paid $12,380 in nov. 87, it was the only short bed they had left in the area!! I doubt anyone will bid 20 grand on this truck....but a brand "new" 21 year old truck, how cool is that!!!!

the caps and rings are with the truck they were never installed

the tires don't bother me. they've probably been replace you let any tire sit in storage for 20 years and they are unsafe - at least I wouldn't go over 25 mph on them
makes you wonder, buy a new truck and store it for 20 years guess it's
kind of like a piece of art to hang on the wall and admire
Based on the look of the house it's in front of I think the owner has the means to do whatever he wants

Glad I don't have the money I would drive it and lose the value

Re: new 87

I saw an 87 Grand National in a similar circumstance, but that seems to make more sense to stick in a time capsule vs. a truck they made millions of. This guy must be really square body crazy. Makes you wonder what else is sitting in his garage.

Sitting that long can't be good for the engine or transmission. The motor never really got broken in either.

There's no way I could have done that. Most of what I like about owning a vehicle is the driving experience.

Re: new 87

I hate to be the pessimist in this bunch, but something is weird with that. Why buy it, get it home and then park it for 20 years? And, it's already been noted, the wheels are different. Looks like the back rims are wider than the fronts..

Re: new 87

the rims are the same width. People do things like park brand new vehicles all the time. It's not unheard of at all. As far as the tires being different, maybe he had them changed because he likes these better... If all I ever did was look at my truck, I'd be changing things too. wait a minute

Maybe he did it because it was the last of that bodystyle in single cab? Not worth $20,000.

Re: new 87

Its probably worth the 20k if it is legit.

Very nice, (but its a 20k truck that looks like a 10k truck) -- hard for most to appreciate

In comparison, An early 70's Cuda or Challenger with 11 miles on it would be worth a couple of hundred thousand -- almost looks cheap now

The 1988 V30 was the last regular cab pickup of that style. The cab was also available as a R/V series cab & chassis throughout the 1988 model year.

Curious why he didn't show pics of the engine and underneath if he really wanted to prove that the truck only has 11 miles, that would be the way to do it...
