Thumbs up Good news from brothers trucks

you: What about an 8ft meatl bed floor for the 67-72 chevy and gmc trucks cause its hard to find a decent one for a decent price

you: metal bed

BROTHERS: I am on there all the time but I do not log-in because then I get inundated with PM. I would prefer for customers to use this service. Metal beds are still very new so they cost of the tooling is still incorporated in the cost, until that is paid off the price will not drop. Just part of the business.

BROTHERS: Longbed bedsides were just given the OK for production. A few sets will be released but the main shipment wont be until March 09

you: I would buy a brand new 8ft bed in a heart beat though I seen in brothers catalog and on the website a 6ft but not an 8 ft? At this rate I can order a whole new truck 67-72 of course

BROTHERS: 8 ft is on the way. Like I said a few sets will be delivered then the rest of the order will be filled in March. Minus the cab, you can build the rest. Just like a 32 roadster.

I was chatting about the bed floor for us guys that love our 8 footers that dont want to cut them

Thanks!Good to know for those who don`t see every post.I didn`t hear that they weren`t really out until spring. So,the ones I`ve seen were a short run and other than those the sides really aren`t available yet.Still great news.

Re: Good news from brothers trucks

I too have been waiting about 10 years for repro 8-foot bedsides. I was very excited 2 or 3 years ago to see they were going to get re-popped. Then I saw that post earlier this week with a price tag. I blushed.

I know time = money to some but when it comes to fixing up my truck - which is still a hobby at this time, I can do a whole lot of repairing on an original bed side for that kind of money.

PLEASE don't take this post the wrong way. To some it is WAY worth it to just buy a panel and bolt it on. However in an effort to keep my marriage together I won't be buying those new sides any time soon.

I was lucky enough to pick up a pretty decent, used bed in the last year. The sides have a few dings but they are far from ranch raisins like what I have now. The best part is the whole bed was $400 and it was already dismantled which saves me a step.

If I had that kind of coin laying around I probably would buy both sides but until this economy turns around I'll be working on my used bed.

Re: Good news from brothers trucks

I know one thing I cant wait to see them rust has been chewing on my 70 GMC. My bed sides are in pretty good shape though and I would need bed floor patch panels I have a few holes and rust. I will get my parts from brothers cause they get their metal from goodmark and tri pro
