whats going on?

my belt that goes to the starter is always poping off!
i have it tight but i dont know why it still pops off!
anyone?

buy a gates belt, they are the best and ride in the groove better then any i have ever seen.....

If there is any misalignment which would allow the belt to vary from the plane in which it should be rotating, it could jump off. If it is too loose, it could jump off. If you are trying to see how high it will rev up, it could jump off. Dant, this is starting to sound like Jeff Foxworthy is writing.....Oh, so if right before the belt jumps off, you are overheard saying, "Hey! Watch this!".....yeah, that's right, you might be a....

Sounds like an alignment problem. There were 2 alternator pulleys, one extends out 1 1/2"(outer edge of pulley) from body, and the other extends out 1 3/4". The original pulley may have been sent back on a core. The deeper one may solve your probem.
