Speed warning help

What is the wiring setup on a speed warning truck??? I have looked at 2 setups and -----the buzzer appears to be nothing more then a relay with 3 wiring connections. Both units have the wiring harness that goes from the speedo to the buzzer via a 3 way connector but only has 2 wires~~~. One in and one out. The third point seems unused??? What actually makes the buzz?? Huck
