Can someone tell me....

how much brake fluid a bone dry system needs? Its a 71 short bed with disk/drum. It is completely dry, new calipers and all. Thanks.

Re: Can someone tell me....

I think I pretty much went through one 32 oz container of it. I probably wasted some because I was doing it myself and using a vacuum system. my system at the time was bone dry.

so if it was me and I didn't live close to a parts store, I'd pick up one 32 oz container and maybe a smaller 12oz (just to be safe).

agree. You can always take the small one back if you don't use it

Re: Can someone tell me....

I used almost a whole quart on mine when I did it.It had new calipers and new lines.I had done the rears a few months earlier.IIRC it only took a few ounces to bench bleed the MC and I did let it gravity bleed for an hour or so.Then I used a cheapie one man bleeder(about $10 or less at Sears).I think I maybe had a 1/2 pint left.I did rebleed the rears since I replaced the rear brake hose.

Re: Can someone tell me....

Thanks for the quick answers. I have to wait for the driver side brake line to come in. They were both supposed to be here yesterday. I would be able to drive my truck for the first time had it come in on time.
