Re: '64 '65 '66 All in the family!
Cool vids!! And your Dads' red looks sharp. I like your 64 best, though, because it looks alot like mine did before the paint all started flaking off in big chunks.
I'm getting ready to do the 5.3 swap in my 64 so I might hit you up with some questions about it if that's okay. |

Re: '64 '65 '66 All in the family!
open the link. right click on the pic, copy image location
then click this thing above where you are typing, and paste the pic location in the little window that opens or you can paste in the quick reply window like so http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l...i/IMG_0351.jpg then just put around it like this (i left the last bracket off so it would show up) [img]http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l428/olsofti/IMG_0351.jpg[/img and when you close the brackets you get make sense???

I have now learned yet something else by lurking around here!! olsofti, do you have pics of your 5.3 install? Build thread somewhere, possibly? What style of motor mounts did you use? I read in one of your posts that you made you own. I don't have the I6 out of my 64 yet and then I have to pull the 5.3 out of the donor truck, just trying to get some idea of a good direction to go with the mounting. I've read several threads on ls1tech and it seems like every one that I read used different mounts. I would like to be able to use the stock truck manifolds but I guess I will have to wait until I get the motor ready to sit in before I know exactly what I will need to do. Sorry for the ramble, just kicking thoughts around in my head! |

Re: '64 '65 '66 All in the family!
TimE,Sorry no build thread.
This is the pattern I used: I used headers for a late Silverado,I don't recommend this,I had to cut and rebuild my stock mounts. When I first set the engine in I had the other type mounts, but they set the engine too far back. I think stock manifolds should work o.k. with the mounts I used, you may have to grind the frame a little where the pipes bolt on. I'll add a few links I found helpful: http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...swap-faqs.html http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/engine-swap/ http://www.lt1swap.com/ |

The little red stepside is a sharp looking rig. It might be my favorite short step with a factory stance and factory lines...not to mention the color.
Two thumbs up! |

Brendon has harness diagrams and pinouts he can also reprogram your pcm at a reasonable price, removing vats deleting the rear o2 sensors and even performance mods. I studied it often before the swap.I used a stock harness, made the wiring much easier. Good luck! |
