need help with the rules
I know there are certian posting rules. I can't remember them at the moment, I need a part for my 70. Can I just ask for one? Do I have to be a supporter to post for a part? Being new here don't want to step in it. Thanks, Jim

You need to be a supporter. It's well worth the $25.

You can buy all day long, you can respond to an subscribed member asking for a part, but you can not post a thread asking for a part, nor can you sell. Not many people woulda asked, they would have just did it anyways. |

Thanks for asking hugger6963. As The Longhorn Man said most would have just posted a WTB w/o asking. As a Site Supporter you can post...WTB (Want To Buy), WTT (Want To Trade), FS (For Sale), and Whats It's Worth (WIW). The $25 spent on this site is the best investment you can make on behalf of your truck. Geeeee...it sort of makes you a distant cousn to the "Longhorn Man." That's worth $25 in itself.

You can go anywhere and locate some of the one of a kind stuff that gets offered up for sale. No one is saying that you have to pay to enjoy the site... but that $25 gets rolled right over and put into the cost of making a place like this work. Just the monthly payment to keep this place going is more than some house payments of some of our members. This doesn't include updates. This doesn't include where uncle sam wants his take. This doesn't include the labor... the man hrs that goes into this joint is more than you would ever imagine. So while I don't say anyone has to pay, I DO recomend that you shouldn't talk someone out of it. You can clutch onto that little bit of money in your greedy hand if you like, but don't infect others with your sour view. |

Show me another sight that is as helpful as this sight. How about Project Underhaulin? That a bunch of truck lovers are helping a recent widow get her truck on the road with no strings attached. And how much money, parts, and time has been given FREE! Where else will you get support and answers to truck issues like this sight? The $25 spent is more than a parts fee. But those who have "read" the threads will know this sight is more than selling and buying parts. JMHO.

Re: need help with the rules
Actually it pretty much pisses me off. I have spent countless hours so you guys have a place like this that is helpful and informative. I spend so much time on the backend stuff I don't even get to enjoy or use it myself. Yet you seem to think it should all be free? I spend 20+ hours a week here just to keep everything working, Liz spends far more than that. The staff spends innumerable hours just to keep it free. You have to help support if you wish to profit off the site which is fair trade I believe for all the money and time I put into it. I don't think I will ever understand people who think everything should be free and don't want to support their own community....
Josh

Re: need help with the rules
I honestly don't understand some people. The members on this board are great then you have ignorant people such as screamin' that feel it's necessary to act a smart ass to one of the creators of the site that's put more man hours into making this work then any of us probably know.
It's sad really...

Like others have said, there are so many people willing to help. I've got parts for practically nothing. Some really hard to find parts (at least hard to find around here). I've given away parts that i'm not using to others. It was really great when I got a PM from a guy that I gave a front drum spindle to. He was needing it to get his driver going again cuz his old one cracked. I'm putting discs on my truck so I didnt need the drum spindle. What did I get for that. I got the knowledge that i helped a guy out and I know that if I'm in need they people on this board are willing to help anyway they can. Do you have to pay the $25? No. But as Josh said it takes time and money to run this site. It's very beneficial to those of us that like these trucks and I take offense to you saying it's a waste of money.
