Going to buy this today

so to keep a short story short I was looking for a motor for my blazer when I came across this truck. I think I'm going to yank the motor and throw a cam and heads on it and put it in the blazer and just grab a motor out of one of my friends trucks and put in this truck and re-sell it or part it out.

I think I can get it for $800 (he's only asking 1200), I'm out the door now cash in hand to take a look at it

Here is his description

Need BIG BLOCK power at an affordable price? This truck has it and a nice ride too! Just 40k on professional rebuilt 454, and 5k on tranny. New HD radio.
Great truck with much life left. Gooseneck and fifth wheel hitch already installed. Runs perfect and NO RUST! Worth a look! Thanks.

Too late Cochino!

I spoke to this guy this AM and transferred $900 to his bank about an hour ago and will be headed up this afternoon to pick it up.

Just kidding!

Nice score though. What are the plans once you pirate the engine out of it? Looks like a pretty nice truck.

I would buy it, shorten the frame, put a shortbox on it and slam it. This would make a great cruiser...

I did but the bottom end went bad right away, so I was looking to rebuild a small block and just happened across this on craigslist. Guess thats what I get for not being able to sleep

Re: Going to buy this today

So I did end up buying the truck, the interior is in excellent condition, tach dash is perfect, door panels look great and the rear seat is even electric and folds down to a bed ha ha ha.

I was planning on just parting it after I took the motor and tranny but I think it's too nice for that. My fiance said she really liked it so I think I'll make a shortbed out of it with a 3/5 drop, crate motor ... It does need paint but there is no rust anywhere on it, only has 135k orig miles.

I'll get some pics of it in the morining if anyone cares to see them

Re: Going to buy this today

My camera died before I got any pictures of the outside but I'll grab some more today. Not sure if I'm going to part it, sell it with a 350/th350, or make it a shortbed driver. I'd really like to keep it but I'm not sure I (and friends) have enough fab skills to shorten the frame. Also not sure if it would work as swb 8 lug, or better to make it 5 or 6 lug.

Re: Going to buy this today

Adam there is a great write up in the FAQ forum on the proper way to cut a frame. Take a look there and I feel confident you can do it. Also, look at the LWB truck I just posted pics of. It still has 8 lug wheels and looks darn nice...

I just came back from the moultrie Ga swap meet and there was a white crew cab with a shortened bed on it. It looked like a pretty good conversion.

You know I"ve had that blazer for almost two years and I've only put like 3-300 miles on it. Once I get this motor back in thats what I'm going to drive unless it's snowing. I probably wont do much to this truck until spring but I'll start collecting parts now.

That truck would be an awsome crew cab shorty hauler and there is a huge selection of 8lug wheels out there.
