parts rant
so for the last month or so i been battling my bosses 88 s-10 blazer with the belt squealing. new parts including smog pump, (old one had bad bearings) new tenior,(spring was bad inside not keeping belt tight) idler pully and ac compressor and water pump ( both where replaced earlier when motor was) . and the darn this still squealing. coming from the idler pulley so i ordered another on from advance auto parts Dayco Pulley new one still squealed got to looking pulley is designed wrong and causes the belt to ride a 1/4 inch off the back of pulley. so i order sone from carquest, Gates brand, Was also designed wrong but totaly different then the dayco. and it caused the belt to ride off the ac compressor. so i ended up going to the junk yard and getting a used ac/ idler pulley bracket (with old used pulley on it) took it back to work and installed it and the squealing went away. ended up ordering a new pulley from Chevy, and ti was a totally different pullie
Advance auto Pulley - 22.95 Carquest Pulley - 17.95 Used junkyard bracket- 25.00 Gm Pulley - 65.00 Leason learned order gm parts the first time and save money

Re: parts rant
depending on the part... if the generic doesn't fix it the first time then buy the official part the second time.
