2wd 4spd
I have a 2wd 72 c10 with a 4spd. Is this considered a sm465?thanks

It is probably a SM465 or an SM420. I am not sure when they changed from SM420 to SM465 and I forgot the visual markers that determined which was which.
It won't take long for someone to check in and answer your questions for sure. |

Not a 420. It is a 465 or a very slim chance that it is an NP435.

usable, yes. easy, no. the tails & outputs are different between the 2WD & 4WD tranny's. you could run a short jack shaft to drive a x-fer case if you were hell bent on using that specific tranny.
