spot lights?

I have seen spot lights on several trucks and was wondering if this was a option from GM or were they after market? If they are after market does someone know where to get them? Thanks Rick

Re: spot lights?

If your local auto supply can't get you a spotlight, I'd try a truck supply store; 1 that deals in big rig parts.

Re: spot lights?

Hey Rick- Congrats on selling the short bed you had for sale! I believe these spotlights were a factory option...you can ask "Chipflyer" (Jeff) on here. He makes the SPID labels, and pretty much knows all of the original factory option codes.

Unity is the company that made them for G.M.

Re: spot lights?

I just installed a Unity S-6 spotlight on my truck not too long ago. The spotlight was a factory option that was listed in the "optional equipment" catalog/pamphlet.

John was right. Unity still produces replacement parts for these spotlights as well as the mounting kits. Classic Bowties (a member here on the board) has compiled a great mounting instruction/drill bushing package that he's selling for $15.

I'll post a pic of my setup, mounted on my rig, when I get back into town.

Re: spot lights?

not a factory option... not that I have ever seen listed.
It was however, an over the counter accesory... or dealer add on.

Re: spot lights?

I was thinking it was dealer add on also. They come up for sale here on the board fairly often. I have a pair Ill be putting on my K20 one of these days. I bought the instruction kit from Classic Bowties...its a very good deal.

Re: spot lights?

I run an original dealer option on my GMC, she's dented and has some character but looks good despite how nice the rest of the truck is.

I have a unity catalog around here somewhere as a PDF for replacement parts and new assemblies.

Re: spot lights?

I agree with those that say its a dealer add on, never seen an RPO code for it.

Re: spot lights?

If you're talkin about spots like the cops use,,the one's that you can aim,ya might want to look at mounting instructions ,first. I put one on an old plow truck that I had some time back . I had to really butcher(drill a large hole) in the windshield post. Then you have the handle in your way all the time.I would never do it again.
If you're going for looks,,just mount dummie spots.-KB
