What headers should I buy
I have a 65 chevy with a small block and I'm wondering what headers would work well. I want to go full length but I really don't want them hanging down below the frame BUT if they are straight at the collector and not turned up I might consider. Right now I have some cheap block huggers and they need recoated so I might get new ones. I don't want a very expensive set but something that will give me some decent power. I've heard of guys running ones from chavelles or monte's but can't remember. Give me your thoughts. Exhaust ports are 1.48-1.48.

Re: What headers should I buy
How was the fit and did they hang down from the frame very far? I am thinking about re-routing my exhaust to the outside of the frame rail and out before the tire but haven't decided yet but the truck will be bagged and I don't want them hanging too low.

Re: What headers should I buy
With the new engine you're building, I'd suggest headers with 1 5/8" primaries. I'm assuming you're running an auto trans? The typical pickup long tube headers are going to hang below the frame which sounds like that may be too low for you. Passenger car headers won't drop down as low, but I don't have any firsthand experience to say which ones will work for you. I do know that 1st gen Camaro headers will work in a K5 Blazer......Seems like they would work in a C10.

Re: What headers should I buy
Yes I am running a 700r4 and I used to have a set of headman headers but I can't remember how low they hung. If someone has pictures it would help.

Re: What headers should I buy
If I can jump the thread a bit, what headers work best with a manual trans?

Here's a thread on how some Hookers fit. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...hlight=headers I usually use Headman's, but the clutch bellcrank (z-bar) needs to be modified. Sorry I don't have any pics.....

Re: What headers should I buy
Those Hookers look like the ones the PO installed on my son's '67. They made a bracket that moved the pivot ball back on the engine about an inch. I saw in Jeg's that Patriot makes some shortys that are supposed to work on a manual trans. They are kinda spendy, but still about half the price of the TTI's we put on my son's Dart.
