Any garage door openers experts here?
I have 2 garage door openers doing basically the same thing. Both are Craftsman openers they are not the chain driven ones. When I hit the button on the wall they will both go up about 6-7 inches and stop. One goes right back down when it hits the 6-7 inches, the other stops at 6-7 inches off the floor. Thay are only 6 years old. I tried readjusting the safety eyes but did not make any difference. Any ideas???. Thanks Randy

Re: Any garage door openers experts here?
There should be two adjustment on the opener one for raise one for lower.
These adjust how far up the door goes before the motor stops. Maybe something is triggering the sensors telling the opener the door is all the was up? Also, check the slack on the cables, excessive slack may be causing some trouble. http://www.usdoorcontrol.com/faq.html

Randy I have had a few bugs with mine in the past clean the saftey eyes and make sure that there are no leaves in the area. Mine would stop because of leaves outside the doors and the lovely wind we have here in KS.

Re: Any garage door openers experts here?
The limit switches are most likely dirtyor worn . I have the same ones. and it just started doing the same thing. but mine goes down about a 1/3 of the way and stops and back up. I cleaned the eyes and its still doing it. so the next step is to check the limit switches. Should be a simple fix. there isn't really that much to them.

Limit Switch.
That name was right on the tip of my tongue, but I couldn't spit it out. Don't you hate when that happens?

Re: Any garage door openers experts here?
I'll go down to the other house here in a bit and see if I can find the limit switch. I'll also clean my eyes off again and see if that helps. Thanks Randy

Re: Any garage door openers experts here?
On ours depending on the time of day, the sun will cause the door to not come down at all. I also recently replaced the rubber seal at the bottom of the door and when the door would close it wasn't set correctly and it would bounce right back up. I had to adjust the setting a little tighter.
Best of luck Randy!
