Re: anybody got some custom audio/video

I've been thinking ahead on audio also, but it's all ideas floating in my head for now.

When I finally get around to making my center console, I plan on putting my headunit on the face and the EQ somewhere towards the rear of the console where the armrest will be. As far as speakers I'm thinking of either putting components on the sides of the console (near your feet), or doing the whole custom 'glas kick panel thing.... or both.
Then, after doing that, I'll probably wait for funds again, then get around to doing a sub/amp enclosure where the gas tank was to house a pair of 10s.

A center console with a screen would be bada$$. And if you have one of the older boxy PS2's you could take advantage of the opening disc tray, seems like one of those would be easier to integrate rather than the top loading slim line ones. I'm probably wrong though.

Re: anybody got some custom audio/video

Yeah that would be cool, i haven't decided yet. Why do you have a fold down or flip up?

Re: anybody got some custom audio/video

Just a question from an older guy (43)... how much would you actually play a video game in the cab of your truck?

Re: anybody got some custom audio/video

well i wouldnt really play it much but you can watch videos and stuff like that and at car shows you could have like a video of all the progress photos and the before and after, i dont know it could be unique

Re: anybody got some custom audio/video

When we get around to mine we are putting a 7" Nav, DVD, and radio double din. in the place of the radio and ashtray. So that way you can find your way to the show, watch your slide show and listen to your radio. That way you get everything you want in one package. That is good thing about having a friend in the car audio business at least my truck will have a great sound system.

Re: anybody got some custom audio/video

I built custom kick panels for my '63. You can buy them premade but they are flat. I wanted to angle mine towards the driver and passenger. I worked at the local Rockford Fosgate dealer as an installer for years back in the early & mid 90s, when Rockford was building their best amps so I know a thing or two about designing car audio systems. I plan to eventually mold in an enclosure behind the seat where the gas tank used to reside for three 10 inch Rockford DVC subs but right now I just have a simple pair of tens in an MDF enclosure. The kick panels are the best place to mount your front speakers though with the passenger side angled towards the driver and the driver's side angled towards the passenger. That gives the best stereo imaging in a pickup cab using traditional speakers. The pictures don't show much, if you wan I can take some tomorrow though...
