Which 2 holes of the 3 holes in frame for engine mounts??
There are 3 holes in the frame where the engine mounts go.....I have a Crate ZZ4 (350) motor.....do the engine mounts go in the front 2 or aft 2 holes??
I have them in the front 2...hopefully that's right, but with it the way it is....there's only 5 inchs between the radiator and water pump which is not enough room to put a fan shroud???? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!! Ricky |

Re: Which 2 holes of the 3 holes in frame for engine mounts??
Give us a little more info...
Was this a six cylinder before? If it was, do you have the original mounting brackets for the six or the brackets for a v8? Long shaft water pump? My 69 was a six and I converted to v8 using the front motor mounts. Used it that way for many years but I didn't like the way the drive shaft was barely engaging the trans. I'm planning on moving it back about an inch and redrilling the bracket holes. I'm hoping this will also balance the weight of the engine a little better. |

small block 2 wheel drive goes in the front holes, but you probably have a later model long water pump.

Re: Which 2 holes of the 3 holes in frame for engine mounts??
It depends on the engine stands you are using.....you will find that the i 6 (250), & the sb V8 stands are very diffrerent. They mount where they bolt on the top, & also on the bottom......if they dont bolt in both places, you dont have the proper stands(or proper spot) You can mount a sb in the rear(6/250 position) on the 6 stands. This will give you 3 1/2" of setback from the stock (factory) position. I have heard many arguements on this setup, but it flat azz works. The HEI dist fits somewhat tight to the firewall, but does clear, & the oilpan WILL drop out with the eng on its mounts(try that in foward position!) bet you will be cussin a bit crazyL

Re: Which 2 holes of the 3 holes in frame for engine mounts??
Im putting 5.7 vortec in mine. Mine was a 6 cyl. I got the v8 stands and put mine in the front two holes. Everything lines up good. I had to remove the vortec manifolds they hit the mounts.
