Bed Fill- Tips On Cutting Hole

I am preparing to install an under bed fuel cell with a bed floor fill, do you have some tips/advice for cutting the hole? And what do you use as a door?

Re: Bed Fill- Tips On Cutting Hole

I used a filler from an S10, including the internals. I modified the tube to fit what I needed.
When you open the door it looks just like a newer car.

As far as cutting the hole, I made a templete out of heavy paper and moved it around as I needed it. I measeured many times to find the best spot (IMO) for it and to have the least cutting of the bed floor and side wall.

Re: Bed Fill- Tips On Cutting Hole

Looks nice, but I am looking for a simple hole in the floor. Anyone have pics?

Re: Bed Fill- Tips On Cutting Hole

Wow that looks great! Just what I was thinking. I tried searching several different terms, but kept coming up with the trick marker light and flip down tail light fill ideas. I can't weld, and have little to no fab skillz so I need something that is simple and looks decent. Sacto, I am going to search your build thread for more info on yours, if its not in there, I am going to ask lots of questions! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Bed Fill- Tips On Cutting Hole

If you can't weld (or find someone who can), your options become very slim. Outside of just installing a boat style filler directly into the bed floor, you're not going to have many other ways to do it. BTW, do you have a wood or steel floor? That will make some difference.

Good luck.

Re: Bed Fill- Tips On Cutting Hole

I have a steel floor. I think this is a perfect excuse to find a used welder and learn how to do it! I like how clean and flat the door is.

Re: Bed Fill- Tips On Cutting Hole

Oh and Sacto, I just read through most of your build thread, and see that its a FCG tank. I ordered one from him, and I am excited to think that it will look similar to that!
