Question Got my new serpentine system in

It came out of a '92 Chevy truck from what I was told. I put pictures of what I have now and what is with the kit. What do I need to do to get my alt and P/S pump to hook up (see pic below)? Also what is the Black bracket for? If it goes behind the P/S pump and mounts to the front of the block can I cut off the two ears that go to the headers? I know I need a reverse rotation W/P from the same year truck.

The alt and P/S I have now

I was shown some pictures of the finished product. At least it survived the junk yard.

Re: Got my new serpentine system in

Chec out my build thread for a pic of that black bracket with the ears cut off to clear headders. I have the same setup

If you are going with the great upgrade to serp. then I would also get adaptors for the new model PS pump to you stock steering gear, and also rewire it for the new style Alt.

Re: Got my new serpentine system in

I have heard that summit / jegs sell an adapter that takes it from the old style to the new 1 wire alternator. I will be needing to do this soon. As far as the PS pump. I recall that we are suppose to reuse the hardline, and unscrew the other from the back of the new PS and screw in the line from the old PS pump, so it still mates to the ps gearbox. Hopefully someone will correct me if my oldtimers is kicking in.

Re: Got my new serpentine system in

Feel free to see mine. It's off a 94 truck but should be pretty much the same. I haven't wired my truck yet, but I'm going with a complete Ron Francis Wiring Kit.

Re: Got my new serpentine system in

I just got everything installed and working great. I lucked out and the P.O. installed a newer style power steering pump so I didn't have to change out the fitting. My truck was already upgraded to an internal regulated alternator so I just had to change the plug and go by the web site I posted above. Right now the P.O. used a light bulb under the hood for the alt to work right later I'm going to put in a resister.

Re: Got my new serpentine system in

Here are some pictures of my install.

FYI put the passenger bracket on first because it will hit the water pump when you try to slide it on the stud in the head.
