exhaust help please.
After christmas I am going to have my exhaust done on my 74 K20 with duals and flowmaster 40 series. But I am not sure what offset to get, I am thinking this is the one I should get. I have seen other chevys like ours use this offset and It looked good. also could anyone one that has a picture of your exhaust exit location could you post it, I am not sure how I want mine to exit so I need some ideas. Thanks.

I have always used a center inlet, offset outlet. Either way, a exhaust shop can make it work.

$77 each, huh? My 2.5" Summit turbos are offset on either end, and are FAR cheaper: Ken's Muffler's in Ft Collins, CO (over 35 years experience that I know of!) did a fine job of fabricating and installing the Summit "H" pipe kit and 2.5" custom exhaust straight out the rear for me: Couldn't ask for better system or sound! The same system components have survived over 30,000 road miles on my daily driver '76 Camaro and appear new! Todd.

Thanks asphaltburner I can get the flows off ebay for $59 each with free shipping and I want somthing louder than turbos. I want them angled behinde the rear tire, would the offsets like yours be harder to do that with or will just about anything work?

Yo! Dude! I'm guessing that you mean exit behind the rear tire out either side.
I'd bet that either configuration would work,...go with whatever will provide the shortest distance from inlet to final outlet. Louder? Why muffle at all then? Perhaps all you need is the long exhaust without mufflers. My Camaro runs long Hookers to true duals, 2.5", through Summit offset turbos (for some backpressure) and out in front of the rears. Rumbles at idle and is borderline legal with RPM. FRANKENTRUCK has shorty headers to 2.5" "H" pipe, then 2.5" offset turbos straight out the back, and is moderately loud. Those Summit turbos are $22 each, and the "H" pipe kit is $35 (providing a ridiculous amount of HP for the price!),...all well worth the cost/HP. You could go 2.5" exhaust with the "H" pipe and no mufflers, exiting behind the rears. Are you running an 8.2:1 compression ratio (std compression ratio) 350V8? If so, that configuration would still give you enough backpressure to keep from burning any valves, and be relatively loud. Todd.

Here's mine, offset inlet / center outlet. It's a single system, but it gives a good idea. Mines setup so I could reuse the stock hangers.

I have the same mufflers, but center in and offset out. It made it a little easier to hang, but you shouldn't have any problems with the double offset.
I also have had the exhaust straight out the back, and out the side, and out the side at a 45 degree angle. I still like it best out the side, because otherwise you really can't hear the exhaust note unless you are behind your own truck when it takes off down the road. At least if its on the side, you can at least hear it bouncing off the concrete barriers on the high way and what not. Good luck, I prefer the 40 series over the 50's that I have now any day. Someday I will go back to the 40's.

headers, 3" pipe to center in and out 3" 40's, more 3" pipe then dump in front of axle. loud but not obnoxious. big block truck

mine is 2.5" pipe offset inlet center outlet 2chamber 40 series flowmasters with 3" dumps in front of the axle. its kinda loud but better than what it used to be which was 3" pipe same mufflers and it dumped under the cab.
