gas gauge
hi
put a subburban tank in rear of my 67 pickup--new tank with new sending unit--when i fill up the gauge reads about a 1/2 inch pass full---is there an easy fix to bring it back to normal thanks bob |

Check GMC pauls web site. You need something in line for the suburban tank for the gauge to read correctly.

i have a stock tank and sending unit and mine has always done that since i've ridden in the truck 8 or 10 yrs.

Mine goes above full as well.As long as it reads empty on "E" and not 1/4 tank ,I'd say don't worry.

So if the gauge reads between 1/4 and 3/8's of a tank when EMPTY, what's the problem? Bad sending unit or what? At full its about 1/4 to 1/2 inch past full. This is my situation.

when mines empty it reads alittle a bove a 1/4 too it really botheres me wats up?

Sorry, but what lever are you referring to. I'm not too knowledgeable about this issue, so my apologies. The long rod with the float attached?

Right, my guage read wrong after I fixed the float (probably because of the added weight of the solder!LOL) Filled the tank and make the necessary adjustments by bending the rod. I know I reads just right now because I ran it on E for a while and was about 20 feet from the gas pump when it died.
Like I said, this worked on my old tank. New tanks might be a different story. It's always cheaper to bend then to buy. jmo
