Re: 1974 mustang front suspenion

There are plenty of M II style units out there from the weld it up yourself kits at one end to Scotts top of the line units at the other.

Each has it's own merit and many meet different needs.

The days of hacking a crossmember out of an old Mustang II in a wrecking yard and fitting it under your truck are pretty well gone. One= due to the lack of decent available doners and two due to better alternatives at reasonable costs.

One thing to base your decision on is your own welding and fabricating skills. Also what do you intend to use the truck for?
If it is to be a world class show truck by all means go with one of the front ends That Scott builds or a similar unit as these will help win shows along with driving well.
If it is a daily driver with a few trips to rod trots I'd go with one of the readily available units from different vendors.
If your welding and fabricating skills are limited or you don't have access to a welder I'd suggest looking at this one http://www.chassisengineeringinc.com/page9.html I've seen it installed on a demostration chassis before and it is a straightforward unit that any guy with a tape measure, a half inch drill and basic hand tools can install without issues.

The main things to consider are:
What you want the truck to be and do when you have it finished.
What you can do your self or have to farm out.
And what your budget for the project is.
Then go from there.

i have a old AD frame that someone installed a factory m2 crossmember. they are pretty light compared to the aftermarket one these days. 11-12 gage compared to 3/16",1/4" used in the aftermarket.
