Did I do this right? (Brake Booster)

So a while back i picked up this booster with a dual MC on it. My plans are to split the brakes and have dual brakes but until then I want to use the booster on the single MC for now.

This is my first project truck so I am a compete rookie at most things, all though I feel I understand quit a bit of it, I just have to do it.

Anyways, when I was installing it I ran in to a few issues I am unsure of.In this picture you will notice that the MC is on an slight upward angle. Is that OK? Or do I have the Booster upside down?

another of the bracket. Sorry for these 2 pics, cellphone pics (I didn't have my other camera).

Another question:
I could not get the bracket to sit flush. There was 2 bolts in the way, they sat slightly above/below on opposing sides of the bolts that secure the MC. Was I correct in removing them?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Did I do this right? (Brake Booster)

I'm no expert. So don't change anything just because of my opinion. I just felt like I'd give you my thoughts on it. Anyway, I think your ok on the angle it's sitting at. But it just seems weird to me that the vacume line is at the bottom and not the top. When I look at it I want to say, (why is it upside down?). But I could be wrong.

Re: Did I do this right? (Brake Booster)

Here are a few pictures of my factory power brake booster/MC set-ups and a few 4-5-6 Chevy trucks. The bracket is horizontal and the vacuum line is at the 9:00 o'clock position. They are factory, but you may have a different booster, so I am not sure what the correct alignment is. As long as it works, then I guess it is OK.

This is a stock one out of a 70's truck. Later 70's that is. I don't think it would hurt to turn the booster 180º and see what happens. I have a feeling that vaccum line needs to be on top.

with the vacuum port on bottom, if your master ever leaks, the vacuum line will suck brake fluid into your engine. might never happen, but why risk it?
btw, where did you get the booster? what does it fit?

Re: Did I do this right? (Brake Booster)

I got it off of a 63 C-10 that was in a repo yard. The guy parted the truck out. I got it for $25 with the dual master cylinder. It was the newest thing in the engine bay, looked brand new.

I was looking around o the web and found a booster for a 60-62 Chevy truck and the valve is on the bottom. As far as the MC leaking, it will make its way in to the booster?
