Rockwell 241C Transfer Case

Can I get a short course on the 241C out of a 89-90 Suburban with a 700R4? Need to understand the strengths and weaknesses, and or normal used prices. Thanks for some knowledge transfer.

Re: Rockwell 241C Transfer Case

I thought they were New Process or New Venture transfer cases.Maybe I`m wrong or they are one in the same.I think New Venture is the new New Process.
They are a decent unit.Only the NP205 beats it for strength and that diference won`t matter with most uses.I have 250,000 on one behind a 5spd in my`92 one ton which is a heavy work truck that sees offroad duty.I had a Blazer with one behind a 4spd and was working fine when I sold the truck w/193,000 on it.My`91 3/4t Suburban hasone w/135,000 and doin`fine. They are light and strong, have a nice lower low range, and they aren`t hard to work on.
What you have with the 241/700r4 is a great donor unit for vintage 4wds going with overdrive.

Re: Rockwell 241C Transfer Case

New Venture is a division of New Process.

Keep the chain in the aluminum case and keep the chain tight and you'll have no problems. It's the bigger brother of the NP231.

There are a few companies that make slip yoke eliminators for those going taller.

I wasn`t sure, thanks.I knew it`s the same company, either a changed name or a new division.Must be some corporate mumbo jumbo.
