Re: Truck is runnin' but.....

I would check the dimmer switch on the floor check the connections or replace it, that should take care of it at least it did when mine did the same.

Check to see that you are getting power to the lights.
If you are, replace the lights.
If not, then the problem will either be the dimmer switch on the floor, or a wire going from the dimmer to the headlamps.

Re: Truck is runnin' but.....

Those dimmer switches are bad about getting rust on the terminals causing a bad connection. Happened on both of my trucks. Very cheap to replace though.

Re: Truck is runnin' but.....

just found out it wasnt that just both low, 2 park lamps, and both tail lights because of mexijapachin voltage reg stuck and blew em out Id rather pay 40 to 100 bucks for the original gm stuff instead of that foreigen crap and feed an american instead of a japachin.

Re: Truck is runnin' but.....

probably the dimmer switch. Many years ago me a two friends had been to Bloomington Gold a big deal corvette show. We had taken one of the guys 62 fuelie to be judged. We left Bloomington IL. about 6:00 p.m Sunday. About 3:00A.M. we were near Atlanta Ga, and I was almost awake, and I hear OH S#$%. we do not have any headlights!! I tell them to pull over. Figured it was the dimmer switch. Told the owner of this high dollar 62 Vette to open the trailer. " what are you going to do?" Me says " you will see, give me a flat blade screwdriver". So I get the short harness from the voltage regulator to the generator and make me a jumper. Jumpered the connector at the dimmer switch in the tow vehicle. It was my turn to drive, they went to sleep. Now They call me CLETIS, cause I can rig something in an emergency. Longhorn man might be right, but dimmer switches are a high fail item

Re: Truck is runnin' but.....

travis... all kidding aside, this is why I told you to test it first.
You don't just throw money at a problem without troubleshooting it first.
You got lucky, it was a cheap part, and not some high dollar piece.

exactly.
you got a cheap lesson on why you should troubleshoot instead of swapping parts.
