what do i need?

i want to put a cam in my truck but i dont know if i have to do somthing to my engine first before or do i need to buy some parts for the engine?

Get a repair manual, cam change gasket set, oil & filter, new timing chain & gears. You'll need a harmonic balancer puller & installer, good time to do a complete tune up as well.
