The "10" arrived today! Bout to "Git ta Gittin"
Just got it today. Drove it home and stopped to take photos so I could post them here, and also to let it warm up since it was 25 degrees out and snow which I havent seen in 5 years....Anyway, I will start doing some body work this weekend weather permitting. Got 2 vehicles to get rid of before I get really deep into the restore so I can use the 30x30 space. Anyway here it is as purchased.
I particularly like this shot...notice the Icesickle I will take shots of the interior tomorrow...I ran out of memory on the camera |

ha ha haaa...Thanks! You guys are Hilarious! Since I am new to the C10 i haven't learned what is Taboo on these things yet. The TA vents didn't even phase me and I didn't notice them until it was pointed out. Obviously someone thought they were something to look at when they put them in. Either way, I'll make adjustments later down the road when Start making incisions and putting in stitches and Braking bones... Thanks for the Replys Guys. My 1st mission is to find some seats that will give me more leg room and Tilt Column to make it more fun to drive.

I have a Question relating to The Cab. I have seen a Few C10's in here where the Cab seems like it has been Leaned Forward a bit, some of the Doors don't have Vent windows, which mean the Windshield was either Cut or leaned back also. Any Build threads on this Mod? I have always wanted to chop a top or lean a windshield back etc. but never knew the Dynamics on doing so. I have been briefed on how to cut a laminated windshield but haven't tried it yet. I have access to millions of broken windshields to practice on.. but that should be a good place to start. Has Anyone in here ever Cut a windshield of Modded your cab by Leaning it???

Anyone know where I can get an Accelerator pedal setup like that? I love the Steering Column as well. The Front rolled Pan is a little extreme unless the Front end tilts, or lord forbid should you ever have to remove one of the fenders..I love his setup but i know me, mr. "Never satisfied" will always be wanting to change something so I will stick to bumpers I guess. But Like his steering column, and Gas Pedal Mechanism. |

Referring to the question about cabs and vent windows....Dakota Wentz, from Custom Classic Trucks magazine, did a "little" work on his cab roof. His grandfather is Darryl Starbird, and somebody pointed out to Dakota that the side view of these cabs shows that the roof drip rail seems to go higher in the front than it does in the back. Anyway, he cut a little bit out of the windshield posts and some other pertinent places, then brought the line down so that it is a bit slicker in appearance. Probably not a job for the average Joe working in his home shop, but with a little experience......
One-piece window kits are available from numerous vendors. By the way, I also noticed the T/A vents, but I also think they were done with some eye toward aesthetics. There was a time when they didn't seem out of place. With the trend toward some vents on fenders (Buicks, F-150's) there are a large number of styles in the catalogs. If I had to have a vent on my fenders, T/A vents make more sense than any others.

First of all from out here on the Left coast.
I'm with ya' on the diving in and figuring out how to do $h!t as I go. Regarding cab mods, I'm currently shaving the drip rails which will go along way to "sleeking" out the profile. Once I get above the windshield I will pie-cut the roof and flatten out the curve a bit so it doesn't look so bulbous as well as reform the rear seam so it isn't such a harsh transition. As far as raking back the "A" pillar......I dunno 'bout that. Seems like alot of work once you figure you'll have to mod the doors and stretch the windshield frame, unless you do a corresponding chop to take up the distance created by increasing the angle of the posts. At which point you'll be cutting ALL your glass. The end result may or may not be worth the work, but that is for you to decide. Good Luck and post up some progress pics....we're whores for the photo's.

Go to Custom Classic Trucks website. Check out the "Get Shorty" stories in the Tech section. Dakota Wentz did 14 or 15 separate articles on shortening a '71 LWB to a SWB, then did a little surgery on the top, eliminated the drip rails, cut the windshield, Y3.
