Bags or LS sawp? Opinions
I have a chance to pick up a ls2 and auto trans (GTO) for a very good price and have been wanting to do this swap for some time. On the other hand I have had the plans to bag the truck since I purchased it almost 2 years ago. I was looking in to buy bags and related supplies when talk of the LS2 came about, thus getting the gears turning in my head. I know in the end the LS swap will cost much more but the initial investment will be about the same as doing the bags.
I would like to hear what you guys would do and why (pros/cons). I realize that some don't like trucks that are baggged and some think that the motor isn't as important, but I would like to hear any and all opinions and/or suggestions. It will help me make my decision. Thank you

Re: Bags or LS sawp? Opinions
I think you should but the motor if its a good deal. When I bagged my truck I spent time finding new parts that people were selling after they sold their projects car/ trucks. I ended up getting most of my equipment at about half the price of new (even though it was all new). If you are patent and buy stuff when you find a deal, your project will be cheaper in the long run. go for the better deal and wait for the rest.

Re: Bags or LS sawp? Opinions
i would go with the motor, then u can decide on bags later, it u bag it now, theres a limit on how fast it can go comfortably. and if u do the motor now, u can see how it handles

LS2! Drivetrains are only low mileage once! Bags can be bought at anytime.

Re: Bags or LS sawp? Opinions
Pyrotechnic I don't know if you have purchased an LS2 yet. Just saw one last night on ebay when I was searching for parts for my Trailblazer SS. It was an complete engine/trans combo with harness , ecm and tcm for a decent price. Claimed to have low miles and it's an 07 version just like mine.

Re: Bags or LS sawp? Opinions
I believe I read an article about this combo being used because the intake and tcm are different than the car version. Calibrated for torque.

Re: Bags or LS sawp? Opinions
Bad Burb, Once you do the LS2 swap, you might want to redo your suspension according to your engine performance goals. Bags might not be the option you are looking for.
But if you want, I will buy some bags and you buy the motor and then we can swap parts even steven. ![]() Site Moderators; I am only kidding. No sales transactions involved. Bad Burb can just give me the engine combo. Problem solved ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by thump16; 01-22-2009 at 04:19 PM. |

If the price is close....Dropmembers front and back!! You cant tell if it has an LS-2 when its laid out and the hood is shut!!

Re: Bags or LS sawp? Opinions
With a ls2 you'll have a hybrid truck it will burn rubber and gas.I wouldn't use a dropmember unless you want air bags.Progressive rate springs are great to have.
