What bracket is this
Since this bracket came off a date coded 1977 350ci Chevy, & the PO told me the engine came from a Chevy truck, I thought I'd ask what it is.
It was attached to the one side of the engine block at the engine mounting holes. Any ideas??

Re: What bracket is this
The bracket goes between the engine block and the motor mount clam shell. There is supposed to be one for each side of the engine. The rod on the bracket connects to the two bolt holes on the cover over the torque converter bolted to bottom front of the transmission.

I have never seen one of those on any 2wd I have owned (which is ALL I have owned).

Re: What bracket is this
I've had those support struts on several Turbo 400 equipped 4wds. The flywheel covers were cast aluminum.

Re: What bracket is this
They aren't needed on a 4x2, you could sell them to a 4x4 owner, but most of them have probably scrapped them by now.

Re: What bracket is this
I have the brackets on my untouched 78 2wd swb small block. It does not have the support rod, and I am not sure if it had the hole for it or not. When I disassembled the truck they did not go back on. I will look at them and see if the are the exact same or not. I am fairly certain, this truck had never had the engine out as it was a one owner whom I knew. Could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time
