Seat Belt Shopping

Where can I buy good quality, stock style seatbelts that I can afford?

Most of what I've seen available have been narrower style, later model or they have been "retro" belts
that were way expensive by unknown suppliers. Don't there things have to be DOT approved?

Re: Seat Belt Shopping

NAPA is a source that I have used for aftermarket seat belts, but it's been a long time.

www.julianos.com has seat belts and shoulder belts, but I don't know what your spending limit is when you say "affordable". In my opinion, and I don't have deep pockets, the quality of the restraining device is worth whatever I think my life or the life of a passenger would be worth. I know that there are limits. But, I've seen posts on here where people used shoulder belt assemblies from an S-10 in our trucks. Are the belts from a wrecked "dime" worth using? If so, it's a possibility.

I don't think any aftermarket supplier would want to offer a safety device, like seat belts/harnesses, that would jeopardize their viability in the market by selling substandard safety devices.

Re: Seat Belt Shopping

Have you thought about having some originals re-webbed, the pro's can do a real nice job these days?

Re: Seat Belt Shopping

Ellen, I've bookmarked a bunch of places that sell seatbelts and will post them later on. There's even a very inexpensive place in the NW up near you that has great deals on belts. Another place to shop is just up the road at the local airstrip. That's where I had my S-10 belt rewebbed here in PDX many years ago.

Re: Seat Belt Shopping

Great Idea! Being literally surrounded by airports, and their support industries, I'm sure I can find a good place to do re webbing. Thanks!!

Re: Seat Belt Shopping

Ok, I'm back. Here are a few places that sell belts, and Ellen the 1st place listed is up near you on an island. Fwiw, I have a really nice, complete set of aftermarket 3 pt. olive belts that I was going to dye black but may just buy new as a result of my other post. If anyone is interested in them just send me a PM.

Re: Seat Belt Shopping

Its hard to justify cleaning up or dying old belts for some of the prices on those sites!
