How can I find the year of make from a frame?
I need to find out what year my frame is. where would i need to look at on the frame? i just know it is 81-87. Please Help me

top of the passenger frame rail under the cab should be a number

Both my '73 and '74 have it stamped vertically on both sides of the frame right next to the front cab mounts.
Maybe different for 81-87?

But I know for a fact that most of the VIN is on the top of the frame, driver's side, between the steering box and motor mount! I looked at those real carefully already!

Just a question, but are the 73-87 chevy frames all pretty much the same?

Is the emergency cable on outside the driverside frame rail? If so 84+. If not, 83 and older. |

i'll try to get a picture but its a 1ton frame and the cable comes outside the frame on the drivers side.

Okay the frame is at least 84+. 1 tons were made up to 91.
Does it have any fuel lines on it? Any axel codes available? |

that is true for 73-80,81 up are not in that spot on the rail from what I have seen.....buddy of mine bought a K5 from the local police auction years ago.....TBI motor,83-4 custom deluxe front(grille,bezels,etc).....searched all over for some vins(besides windshield) and only thing that we found was top of RH rail,under cab,near where the tank would be.....gonna need a mirror to see them. |

i dont know if any of you might be able to tell by the look of the body but this was it before it went to scrap
