Question need help

here's the problem. I'm stuck on what it could be. the truck idles fine but when you hit the gas the carb starts popping. Carburetor is a Edelbrock Performer 1407 all the 2 vacuum lines are hooked up correctly the timing advanced is on the driver side vacuum port the PCV Valve line and thats it. the idle mixing screws i read up on them were is a good startng point on them. now the poping could it be 1 lack of gas,2 out of timing, or 3 float out of adjustment. I noticed that it seems to be running rice thank for the answers
