A cup holder for my Edsel dash....

It will attach to the firewall area and come to just in front of the dash. It will be a bolt in item that can be removed if I don't like it. Let me know what you think.

Re: A cup holder for my Edsel dash....

Here is kinda what it would look like in the truck. I will make sure it works with the ash tray. I don't smoke, but I like somewhere to keep my change.

Another bored engineer at home with autocad, huh?

You've gone and given me ideas...

I'm guessing it will unlock and "roll down" to use the ash tray? Cool idea!

Good work, but honestly I think it would detract from the coolest dash swap ever. I love the way that dash looks in there!

Maybe something like this under the dash instead of something in front

Re: A cup holder for my Edsel dash....

Thats pretty cool. I want to keep it clear underneath the holder so someone could ride in the middle. The holder will not be in front of the dash for the most part. I want to top to be just below the ashtray. I have some friends that run CNC machines and cut "test patterns" out and may see if they will cut all the parts out for me.

Re: A cup holder for my Edsel dash....

I gotcha. The one I posted would hinder any middle passengers. I'm sure you'll work out the flow with the dash.
I wish I had the smarts to have figured out that dash. It looks like it should have always been there.

Re: A cup holder for my Edsel dash....

Thanks. You should check out my build thread if you haven't already. I just put some pictures of it up. I have been welding for the last couple of days on it and still have a ton to do. I can't wait to get it mudded and in primer soon.

Re: A cup holder for my Edsel dash....

Cool idea. Hey maybe you could engineer something utilizing the original ash tray.. as an added benefit , when it's closed, it wouldn't take your face off in a crash.. You do nice work

Good call !!

I personaly think that your beer should hang off the door in a holder that slides down in the window opening ... Circa 1974

I like it but as stated if you wreck it it would wipe your legs off. Why not add another compartment with a pull out beside the ashtray. Maybe something that folds up from under the seat.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Nice work, but I agree with the ashtray idea. Hidden and out of sight.

Theres not going to be anything "safe" about this truck. I aint skered! lol. I have a couple of other ideas as well. I do really need to come up with something for the ashtray area though.

Re: A cup holder for my Edsel dash....

Great idea, but I think it would take away from that very cool dash.

In my mind it would be a clash between the old school dash versus new age billet parts. Kinda like a traditional hot rod wearing billet wheels ...

John Paul, it looks great! Add a little "ink" to the smooth surfaces in keeping with your own tastes......

Seriously, it looks good. The Swiss-cheese effect of drilling/machining holes in the supports is cool. I have a street rod type of cup holder but the mounting is what has left me wanting.

Glad to hear you're still hanging in there.

I will make it look old school enough. Its not going to be billet, rather I am going with powder coated black with stainless button-heads for just a little shine.
