Automatic shift ball?
I don't have a truck currently so I can't just go out and look but I was just thinking about this. Can you unscrew the black piece on the end of an automatic shift lever and replace it with a shift knob? like this..

Re: Automatic shift ball?
The stock shifter knob will slide right off, try some vice grips. Depending on the aftermarket knob you may need an adapter or cut the shifter lever down. Here's a pic of my shift knob, it came with an adapter.

Do you know of an adaptor available by itself?

Re: Automatic shift ball?
Nope. If you can find out how the shift knob you want attaches it may give you some ideas.
