Question Winter beaters?

Like many of us in the snow belt, I put the GMC to rest for the winter and fire up the beater. Mine being a 92 jeep YJ ( you don't know stiff leaf springs till you've been in one of these monkeys)
As I was bouncing along I was wondering what other folks beaters are like. How about yours?

Man sometimes, eventhough it is hot down here during the summer, I get reminded of the blessings of Texas.

I can not imagine what ya'll have to go through in the winter. The only beaters we have down here are the rednecks in the wife beaters.

Truth is it really doesn't snow up here in toronto like it used to.
Last year we were really only dumped twice and this year it still hasn't snowed yet. Temps close to 40 today and there expected to go up to close to 50 next week. The Great White North aint what she used to be.

I put my truck away mainly because of the salt used when it does snow not because of poor driving conditions.

Yeah, next August 20th or so, after leaving your truck in the driveway all day, and now you're sliding onto that vinyl seat in your shorts (sizzle) and you rest your arm down on the door (crackle), it won't be a blessing that comes out of your mouth!

Back in TX, I was planning on an aftermarket A/C unit in my truck. Now that I'm up here, all I need is a heater... and I've driven it now for 2 winters without even having one of those.

Having been born and raised in TX, I can say with all sincerity that I'd trade a TX summer for a 'nor-easter' filled winter in MA. (Did I mention I have a heated garage, I can telecommute to work when I get snowed in, and my wife does the snow shoveling? ).

I've got an '87 Caprice with a 305, and my 89 1500 4x4 to get me around if we really have heavy snow, like 2 years ago. My dad had to plow our driveway out with his D7 Cat Bulldozer. Meanwhile my '72 was parked outside, COMPLETELY buried in a snow bank. Couldn't even see the antenna. I didn't see the truck again for 2 1/2 months. But she started right up, no problem.

I pretty much drive my truck year round, too, even in the snow (but not in the salt/ slush), but when I move to Oklahoma next month, I'm getting a hailstorm beater, I want a Caprice cop car, but we'll see...

i drive my ford year round. up till last year i drove my old dakota that i'd played around with for a few years. i'd done a lot of custom bodywork with trees and rocks and such while offroading. no back bumper. a bit of front bumper. no mirrors (see trees). it was a good little truck until the transfer case exploded on day on the highway.

oh and i did have wheels!!

Winter beater? Don't understand? It's winter here (I know 'cause the days are shorter) and I drove my truck yesterday, probably will today, and maybe again tomorrow.

Thumbs up

I LIVED IN MICHIGAN FOR 35 YEARS BEFORE MOVING TO NEVADA (CAN YOU SAY RUST?) & ALWAYS HAD A WINTER BEATER. IT'S NICE TO LIVE IN A PLACE WHERE THERES VERY LITTLE SNOW,NO SALT, & YOU CAN DRIVE YOUR GOOD CAR 12 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR. ONE YEAR I EVEN DROVE A VETTE EVERY DAY, ALL WINTER, & IF YOU'VE EVER OWNED ONE YOU NO HOW THEY DON'T HANDLE IN SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. LOL LOL
