Got the drop on my 67!!!

Update!
Bed is back on! New pictures when I get home tonight after my soccer banquet!

Well, half of it at least. I finished rebuilding the rear, all new polyurethane bushings everywhere, new 4" drop coils installed, trailing arms sandblasted and painted, as well as the tracking bar and lower shock mounts. Whats the stock height of a truck bumper to ground? I think mine dropped a lot more than I thought it would. Still looks wicked though.

Very nice Dylan. I just put a 2/4 drop on my '69, and I'm loving. You're making me wish I had I bought that old truck more and more!!

Re: Got the drop on my 67!!!

I don't know what the height from the bumper to the ground should be, but this what the 2/4 did to my truck.

Re: Got the drop on my 67!!!

It should drop another inch with the bed.
Standard height was measured at the top of the wheel arches above the tire. I seen that number some where. Not in the red book must be in the ASSY Manual.

Re: Got the drop on my 67!!!

Great job. I just put dropped coils in the rear of ours. Someone in the past had just clamped the coils. It must have been nice to do it with the bed off instead off from under an assembled truck in the driveway on a creeper
Also, in the LMC catalog the height for stock from the ground to the top of the wheel arch is supposed to be 34" at the rear. Anyway, great job.

Re: Got the drop on my 67!!!

Looks good so far! The back bumper is going to come up once you lower the front end. We had that issue when we lowered my wifes 54. When we aired out the front the first time the bumper touched the ground. This was while the back was still stock height. Your rear tires are the fulcrum/pivot point of your plane at this point. Once the front gets dropped things will pivot up from the rear tires to the back of the truck.

Bumper and wheel arch measurements don't mean squat if the trucks being measured don't have the same size tires with the same amount of air pressure in them. You can take a measurement from your axle tube to your frame and then compare it to what someone else has. That measurement will be the same no matter what size your tires are.

Ditto on what Asa said. Also, it will help when you remove that 400 lb bumper and put a sport bumper on

Oh yeah, didn't even think of the rear axle being the fulcrum point of the truck. Maybe that'll make it look a little more like I want it with the front re-done. As for the sport bumper, got one I could have? Haha.

The one I have on there now will be painted probably today when I get home actually. No new shiney chrome sports bumpers til money permits and I don't have anything left to do that's necessary for it to be on the road again.

Re: Got the drop on my 67!!!

Nope that's the stock tracking bar and stock height shocks. No relocating of the shocks either. I guess they'll probably end up going bad soon but maybe not. As for the track bar I've heard some say you need an adjustable one and some say you don't. I'm on an extremely tight budget so I'm not using one if I don't absolutely have to.

Bradley,
Got any pictures of the bumper, and would it mount up to the bumper brackets I have on my truck now? How much shipped to 32327?

Thanks,
-D

Mine is lowered 4.5 inches in rear and have had no issues after around
