What I found at a salvage yard.
I was searching for a D-shaft for my 85 K5, and I found a 67-72 truck cab. The cab was on a pallet, brand new cab and doors, gutless, and in the black gelcoat. What do these sale for? The guy said $800, and I was just wondering. Also found an air dash in one truck. I went to a salvage yard, biggest in my area, I'm guessing 60acres or so. That place is awesome! Spent like 2hrs there, and I wanna go back lol

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
If it is indeed a brand new factory cab, $800 is a S T E A L. A set of NOS doors will sell for that much.
Even if it's a restored cab and factory doors, 100% rust free that's still a good price.

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
It was brand new, minor dings from shipping and rust inside the doors from sitting but nothing bad. It's the shell, no guts, and doors, not guts, but has the black gelcoat still. I wish I could buy it. Not sure if its titled but you can get around that LOL.

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
I didn't know they reproduced the whole cab yet? I know the have full floor pans and about every patch, but not a full cab?

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
The 67-72 cabs are made in fiberglass. No "new steel" that I'm aware of.
You can get a 47-55 1st series cab in steel for about $9,000!!! http://www.dynacornclassicbodies.com/gm_models.html

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
Maybe it's been beadblasted, either way it's a black basecoat on a steel unrusted out bare cab.

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
Big Green, that sounds like a nice yard. Griffin, I'd be willing to make the trip down there too if you want to make a road trip out of it. I have a 20' car hauler if you need to pick something up.

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
I have seen rust free bare cab and doors sell for $1500 in NC.I have a 72 bb cheyenne cab dissasembled to rebuild one of my short beds with and I have turned down $1200 for the bare cab .It is a rust free AZ cab and I have a 72 shortbed bigblock that I am planning to put it on so it may be worth more to me than someone else .You can spend alot of cash just rebuilding a cab and it is still patched.

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
I have noticed that these old trucks seem to be worth more in pieces, Breaks my heart, but everything in life is cyclical, after they have all been parted, the cream will be worth keeping, and prices should reflect that.

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
Thats mostly because if we bring any more complete trucks home it will have to come with divorce papers.

Re: What I found at a salvage yard.
be careful that it's actually a 10-20-30 cab not a 40-50-60 cab. I think they look similar but have major differences... I could see one of those sitting around from some conversion truck shop or something...
gotta do this now
