Question Valve cover clearance

Howdy from Texas--- Been a member on the board for a while but this is first post. Been a reader mostly and have had a few questions but usually I look around a little and someone has asked and answered already. Anyway, in the process of a 427bb swap into an 84 shorty. Im using Harland Sharp rocker arms on cast iron heads so i've got to use tall valve covers. The truck has power brakes and was concerned about tall covers hitting the brake booster. Wondering if they will clear, and if not, what the cure was. Thanks in advance!! John

Re: Valve cover clearance

454, Harland Sharpe rockers here too...I run these valve covers, no problem getting them on/off with brake booster/cylinder installed.

Re: Valve cover clearance

Yeah tall valve covers fit fine if you want to see a odd one look at the drivers side valve cover on a big block chevelle they had to dent it to fit.

Re: Valve cover clearance

I thought the same and found a good paper thin gasket gave just a little bit more room

Re: Valve cover clearance

Thanks for all the quick responses gentlemen! I love the pics too being a "show me" type of person. Ive been looking in Jegs/ Summit and alot of their valve covers say that they clear "most" aluminum rocker arms. I figured the taller ones might be the ones that might have the booster clearance issues but looks like its not as big a deal as I thought. Thanks again. By the way, ive noticed there are alot of knowledge floatin around this board and the trucks are beautiful.Proud to be a member!
