Anyone running a big (33 inch) set of these on their truck? I am wondering about the road noise. I could not hear the TA All Terrain tires when I was running them but am a little concerned about this more aggressive tread.

i dont have to much trouble with them... but I have a cst. not sure if that makes any diff

they will be ok at first, but then after a while they will start to cup, its worst the heavier the truck.
thing to help avoid the cupping and irregular wear.... maintain your tire pressure, rotate tires regularly, and make sure the truck is aligned, and the wheels balance.

I was thinking of using them on my Longhorn with the camper. I am very careful about tire pressure and rotation. These are very low mileage nearly new tires and the guy is offering a smoking deal ($300..new set $786+tax) on them since they are 16.5's. I am going to insulate the heck out of the cab so that might certainly kill the road noise and vibration. Wondering about cross country trips however. They will be perfect when I convert it to 4x4 in the future...LOL!\\

I'm going with 33x9.5 BFG A/T All Terrain KO on my K10 when I need tires. I've heard they are only noisy above 75. But the Mud Terrain's are probably noisy about 60-65.

I had 35's on 18's on my Hummer H2. The road noise wasn't bad but the tires didn't last long. About 17,000 miles. The last 2000 miles were terrible. They couldn't be balanced they were so out of round. Had Nitto's put on and so far so good 20'000 miles later. The Mud Terrain is a great looking tire though and for that price you can't go wrong IF they're OK. Big IF used.

I am running the same tires and was making regular 80 mile trips. I didn't hear much noise and I have a '69 K20 that weighed in at almost 7000 pounds after I left the dump.

Jeff and thirdstreet, Very good points! I won't drive that fast with the camper and it is not a DD. The brand "X" I have now make noise at 60 if I listen for it. If I decide to go with them I will inspect them carefully and have them mounted immediately for a drive to make sure they are good...or no deal!

I have around 50,000 miles on my mud terrains. Very high maintenence tires, but very good if you maintain them.
33x12.5x15 on a 70 1/2 ton 4x4. They make noise just because of the side lugs. Hard to get away from that with that style of tire. Something i got used to for sure. Plus they do look good.

Low milage and the guy is willing to take less than half what he gave for them.
I would guess there is something about them he is unhappy with.That said you may be also.

That is where I was going, Sandpoint and back every weekend at least this last summer.

im sure youll be much happier with a/t. iv had both and couldnt wait till the muds wore out, to buy the a/ts. seems the all terrians last forever and wear great.

Air pressure, and rotation. Big lug tires "chop" easily when on tar most of the time. If the front end isn't perfectly aligned they will chop or scuff. I even adjust the air pressure according to how they wear. I rotate in an X pattern on the vehicle. Heck, most people don't do anything with their tires.

I have some mud terrains on my bronco, they ride smooth enough and don't make too much noise, but I can't hear over the flowmasters anyways

I have a 75 blazer that I use for snow plowing in the winter and drop the top for the summer. I run 31's at's in the winter and 33 mt's in the summer. You have to realize that the top is off most of the time in the summer but the difference is HUGE. The mt's are WAY too noisey. I am in the process of looking for good used 33 at's for this summer. I don't want to run the mt's again !
I realize that it is apple and oranges ,because of the difference in size but the at's handel SO much better.The mt's are meant for mud,and thats about it IMO-Keith
