I do not have an ignition key...What are my options?

If your door locks are the same key, remove one and take it to a locksmith and he'll make you another.

I agree with what 71MUTT said. Here is a little more info on it....

Chevy Truck Lock Code Location

The code number should be stamped on the door lock cylinder, sometimes one, sometimes both. The only time I have found one that didn't have the code stamped on it is when the lock had been replaced with a new one. Check the passenger door first. Generally the lock case will have to be cleaned very well to be able to see the code number. A small wire brush, steel wool, scotch bright, or sandpaper usually works well for this. I do not recommend a wire wheel because it will completely remove the code number if it is stamped lightly. The code number is always stamped into the lock case, never cast into it. Most locksmiths can cut a key from this code number. Home centers and hardware stores will not be able to do this. If the locks are original to the truck or were all replaced at the same time the key made from the code number on the door lock should fit the ignition switch.

If you do not have a locksmith close to you PM me the code number from the door lock and your shipping address and I will cut a key for it for 5 bucks shipped.

do a search for loc doc and read his post it is long and it is well worth it you will need all the info one day. I PROMISE you will not regret it. I read it a little while back and glad that I did. But if you want just look for code on door lock and take to lock smith for key as said in one of the previous post.

Run a positive wire to the ign side of the dizzy, screwdriver to the starter.

Forget the screwdriver to the starter, just ram the screwdriver in the ingition switch and turn the key, simple and easy.

I could do this with my 67 until I finally put a new key cylinder thingy in (can't remember what the heck you call that part). I could also pull my key out with the truck running

All of my 72s (Blazers/Longhorn/C30s) have a single key for door locks and ignition. If your door key does not work in the ignition, it most likely is the case that a PO has installed a new ignition switch/lock setup. So, your options would seem to be: 1. remove the ign switch and take it to a lock shop and get a key made., 2. have a locksmith come to your truck and do the same thing, 3. buy a new ignition switch lock, with key. Otherwise, you could eliminate the ignition switch, seperately wire/switch all of the functions now controlled by the ign switch, and you are on your way. Come to think of it, it could be cool to have just a turn key "on" and a push button starter control - like my Dad's old 49 Chev Fleetline.

go to autozone and get a new switch they are like $20 here...

Key codes only go back so many years. I know i worked at a GM dealer till it closed up in October lol. best bet would be to call a locksmith

I PM'd you to make sure I understand what you want. Since each key code series uses a different blank and the oval head key blanks were for cars, not trucks The chances that an oval head blank will fit into your pickup locks is slim. It really depends on the year of your truck and the code series of the lock cylinders though.
