Question: 64 Chev floor and rocker replacement

I am getting ready to do my first floor and rocker replacement on the passenger side of my 64 Chevy pickup. I've read several posts and have a pretty good idea what I need to do. I ordered the parts from LMC and am getting ready to trim them to fit. When I look at the two floor patch panels, I am a little confused about the amount of metal along the right side. It looks like way too much - do I need to trim this, and how much should I leave? I am also puzzled by the angle of the bend. I would have expected more like a 90 degree angle. This part of my floor is completely gone, so I have no original to look at.

My second question is about the rocker. It has some dimples that seem to have been created when the part was formed. Is this normal, or do I have a defective part? I'm sure I can correct it, but I figured new parts would be straight - or is it normal to have to do some straightening on patch panels?

Thanks for any advice you may have.

the right side piece you see is actually the inner rocker.
the dimpiling is probably because thier tool/die for that rocker is getting worn...
check out alansclassic my 65 build thread, he has some pics of it going together...

I have plenty of questions also. We need pix of the cab to really help out. Is your cab braced? There will be some trimming to do more than likely. Then some more trimming. Find some good referrence points and measure, measure and measure. My angle was off as well. Once I got mine into position, I could see where and what the angle needed to be.

Go thru my build like Jonzcustom said and also my photobucket pix. I replaced both sides plus some. Good luck. You said it was your first time, what's your experience level? This will be a very time consuming and very frustration job if it's your first time. But well worth it in the end when done. Were here for ya.

BTW welcome aboard.

OK, now it makes sense. When I ordered, the salesman told me that it did not include an inner rocker, so I ordered that part separately. I was trying to figure out how to fit all three together! With that in mind, I'll go back and test-fit to see if I want to use that as the inner rocker or cut it off and use the other piece. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for posting your pictures. I will go through them when I get a chance and I'm sure they will help me. I've looked at some other people's build threads, and these are very helpful.

My experience level? I took a welding class at a local community college and I've done some practice on some junk fenders cutting it up and then welding it back. But I'm not afraid to try something new, and I will take it slow and careful. Here's a shot of where I'm at now. Since the picture was taken, I have welded a brace from the inside, so I can put the door back when it's time to test fit. I'll make sure everything fits before I start welding. Thanks again for your help!
