lost vin plate ???????
What if I have a truck i was restoring and replacing the cab and lost the original vin plate but have the original title that matches the frame, is there anywhere I can get a repo. vin plate like the original? I know I can title off the frame numbers, and I could also have the highway patrol do a inspect and attach thier own vin but I would like it like the original.

well you can try and save a plate from another truck and iron out the numbers. That is the only thing I can think of right now

On the inside, of drivers door, right by the lock striker, on a stamped metal plate that's riveted to the body.

I'm in trouble right now over this. The previous owner had removed the vin plate and re-attached it, so I failed inspection. Now I am at the state's mercy and will probably have to go to court to get a new vin plate attached by the hi-po. I've seen places on-line that sell the blank plates, but they can land you in jail. Stick with the hi-po plate, it will put an end to some future headaches.
