63 stepside value

I have got a 1963 Chevy short stepside that I no longer want or need since I inherited my Grandpa's 66. My question is what would the value of it be sold as a whole or would I be better parting it out. It has the usual rust in the cab corners, front fenders and bottom of the doors. The other negative is that the PO put a sunroof in it. It has a 350 with a TH350 automatic. The bed is in really good shape. The truck has been sitting for years. Any feedback would be much appreciated. I know with the economy it is harder to find guys looking for a project but I'm tired of paying to store it especially since I know I will never do anything with it.
Thanks

Re: 63 stepside value

Greetings emk. If you've got the time and don't mind turnin' a wrench you might make more money parting it out rather than selling it whole. If it runs and rolls a '63 in the condition you stated shouldn't be worth less than $1000-$2000. Certain parts that are not remanufactored like '60-'63 doors and door panels, hoods, dash boards, grilles and trim pieces could themselves bring hundreds of dollars each depending on the condition. If I were you I'd load up my '66 with the best parts and head to the nearest swap meet for these kinds of trucks. Even if it's a bust you're sure to meet a lot of fellow Chevy truck guys and have a great time. Wish I were closer so I could scoop up a better bed for my '63. Good luck.

Re: 63 stepside value

I think if it runs and drives, I'd sell it complete. Sometimes parting out a rig can be a PITA especially if you can't sell the parts. Then you have a part of a truck......

Re: 63 stepside value

Thanks for the replies. This truck has not ran or drove for many years. It hasn't had a carb on it since before I bought it. I have thought about getting it running but I'm not sure if that will end up being a major task or not. I have been selling Land Cruisers parts online for awhile now but I'm not sure where is a good resource to find fair prices for used Chevy truck parts.
