Re: Joemommas' 66 GMC

Im planing on swaping the cab and front end of my GMC to that 65 frame and bed. I wanted to keep the 6 lug pattern and keep it as true to that year as possible but the donor chevy already has a 5 bolt pattern and disk brakes in the front & rear. The rear diff is a 8.8" ford 3.73 w/ posi on a 5x4.5" bolt pattern. Dont know what Im going to do about that. Redrill the front to match the ford pattern or swap the axles? Theres alot more options for rims with that ford pattern than the chevy truck 5x5". The cab is not worth the trouble for me to save. I think Im going to put that small hump in my GMC cab, along with that steering column and booster. It really sucks since I just bought a six lug disk brake conversion w/ a front end rebuild kit for my GMC and scored a 72 chevy 3/4 ton booster and M/C for $20. The front is dropped 5" You need a 2" drop spindle and the 3" lowering spring or cut 4 coils off the stock spring. It will look nice but dont plan on being able to drive it. The rear is a 3" drop I believe. I love the way the tire just tucks the fender. Keep those 20's out of here! I am more than positive those stewart warner gauges are from the dealer and not the factory. I purchased it from the original owner who said he used it only for work, so I doubt he wanted to trick it out. I have never seen any other GMC truck w/ those gauges are they out there?

I like the gmc.
I think those might be "green line" SW guages, they might be worth quite a bit, you'll have to do some research...
probably owner installed in the 60's

Nice trucks. Welcome to the board.
And, when are you up for parole?
Looking at the fence in the background with razor wire, I assume you're in prison?

Nice! I notice the GMC has a '62 hood on it and the 60-65 G M C letters with the oval G and C. Any info on why the PO changed it?

I really dig the SW gauges. That is awesome!

Thanks for all the love.
The hood is a 66, I just put those clear lenses on. I think clear looks alot cleaner but the chrome edge looks kinda ricey. Amber looks nasty to me and it really stands out. I noticed the letters too. I have no idea why its like that, the tittle shows it as a 1966 model. I didnt know those were sw gauges untill I seen a couple of hot rod mags w/ those in camros and mopars. Its amazing all the gauges are still working. Need to find a way to get that oil pressure gauge open to clean it. I love that GMC trucks are different, gauges instead of idiot lights and who else makes a big block V6.
and Im not in prison..yet.

Re: Joemommas' 66 GMC

Thanks to the guy who put up that blazer tank install for $50. I went to the junk yard and found a 84 blazer with that tank untouched! Got the straps, filler neck and sending unit for $40. Dumb broad @ the exit said she was going to charge me for a fuel pump claiming it was in the tank. Either way it was still cheap. I think I might go back for the 10 bolt posi w/ six lugs it has.
