Honest Opinion

well im going to do my truck a olive green from the front fenders up and a dark green on the bottom down. and separate it with a 1/2" silver pinstripe.

but the thing is im going to do 67-8 trim on the bottom and was wondering if it will look whack if i do it like that.

what do you guys think?

Re: Honest Opinion

Why don't you have someone photoshop it just to give you a better Idea and something to look at then post up your findings so we all can take a look at the look your going for, just my thought cuz it's hard to picture something in your head....

Re: Honest Opinion

Personally, I'm not a fan of stock type moldings on a truck with a custom type paint job.

I don't think it would look "whack" if you did a nice job....just not my preference.

Re: Honest Opinion

Maybe not with the 67/68 trim on bottom, too much trying to divide the side. Upper trim only, yes

Re: Honest Opinion

I guess I like it with the lower trim. It brings focus to the wheels. It ties them into the rest of the truck. Have someone remove the trim and you will see what I mean. If you didn't have the chrome on the top of the truck, I would say go without. But it goes with the upper cab and windshield moldings.

Have you ever seen anyone do a plastic wrap paint treatment? This would look neat from the trim molding down the rocker panels. Same darker green, but with the texture added to it.

In any case, your color choice is very cool. It will look great either way.

Thumbs up Re: Honest Opinion

I'm with texanidiot25. Too much going on. I think the lower trim draws your attention away from the wheels/tires a bit. Smooth, clean lines jump out at me every time. Just my opinion....but like Clos69 said, what matters is what you like, not us! LOL

Re: Honest Opinion

I think it looks killer, so go for it!

When I take off my stepside bed and put on my fleet bed my truck will be getting the 67/68 side trim, I think it looks great and I've always wanted to install it, but it would have looked stupid on a stepside

Re: Honest Opinion

I don`t like custom schemes with factory trim, either. It`s either/or in my mind.BUT...I really think that looks great! I think with all that chrome flash from those wheels it looks good to carry it onto the truck. It also links it all together the way an accent color does.Also,the67/68 trim "ollows" the bodyline. The 69/72 upper & lower trim is just a paint divider for two-tone or something to break up a solid color. If you have it and use some other lines of the truck it competes.

Re: Honest Opinion

I like the paint scheme... looks sharp, I'm torn on lower molding, and wheels, maybe someone could photoshop it w/o the moldings.

but I think its sharp looking!

I personally am not a fan of moldings. They do look good on certain trucks, and this is one of them. Whichever theme you go with, it's gonna look awesome!

great work on the photoshop, I love them both, IMHO, I'm not too found of the wheel size, but that is just me.. I think it looks awesome.
Probably time to put on it to a vote!

Re: Honest Opinion

I think the lower trim should STAY ON. The dk grn is a little heavy for me & it breaks that a little without detracting. Also agree with the wheel tie comments. The other item no one has mentioned, it looks lower to the ground WITH trim. The olive looks a little darker than OEM but it can be hard to match colors on PS or the web. I'm also a big fan of the painted fake trim look - if you're going to split the colors that way, it'll look awesome.

Lastly, there are a bunch of super sharp trucks with great paint jobs but you hardly ever see trim - smooth is what most ppl like. Keep the trim so it's YOUR truck/idea/plan & you're gonna be real surprised how many compliments you get when it's done - things like, "I never would have thought to keep the trim but that REALLY looks SHARP!"

Besides, you're footing the bill. Can't wait to see it!!
