Engine break in on chassis??????
Im planning on starting my 350 on the chassis to break it in, set the valves and make sure it doesnt leak before all the new painted parts go on. Anyone done this? I plan on temporarily fixing the radiator, battery, and exhaust in place to do this. I was told that I could "Burn Up" my distributor if I hooked it up straight to the battery. Has anyone ever had this problem? Are you supposed to regulate how much energy gets to the distributor somehow so as not to burn it up? If anybody has done this before Id appreciate some tips on the best way to go about it.

Re: Engine break in on chassis??????
You can get a ignition switch at napa or some other place that is on ,off , acc , start for like 20 bucks.
If you are using HEI you will not have a problem at 12 volt.

Re: Engine break in on chassis??????
Thanks Richard. I am using an HEI distributor so I guess Im good then. The guy that told me I would burn it up must have been refering to a points distributor.
