Bbc freeze plug

Does anyone know how far the rear freeze plug goes into the block. This is the freeze plug directly behind the cam. I dont think it should hit the cam but does the freeze plug keep the cam from walking backward in the block?

thanks guys

Re: Bbc freeze plug

I would say drive it in flush or slightly under but not touching the cam. The timing gear will stop the cam from moving backwards.

Re: Bbc freeze plug

Perfect, thanks........ I dont know what I was thinking when I ask about the cam walking backward I just installed the 3 bolts on the timing gear the other day. DUH.......... It looks like it is going to be one of those days

But since I have this thread open, is there a torque spec for thos three front bolts that hold the timing gear onto the cam?

thanks
