Question origional 72' rearview mirror placement?

I restored my truck and it has a new windshield and I need to glue the rearview mirror on the windshield and was wondering if someone can please measure down from the rubber seal to the top of the rearview mirror on your 72' and tell me the distance between them? An origional windshield would be great. Thank you. Dave

My mirror has fallen off so many times, I just sit in the truck and eye ball it

I'm not sure what would be considered the stock mounting point. I just figure six months from now, it will come off the windshield again.

Mine fell off last summer while it sat in the driveway getting that Texas sun. HOT!

Re: origional 72' rearview mirror placement?

The 'button' that the mirror attaches to (my mirror is removed) is 2 7/8" down from the molding (to the top of the button; a smidge over 4" to the bottom of the button).

Disclaimer: The windshield has been replaced once in the 31+ years that I have owned the truck. My glass guy is a real stickler for detail, so the button is probably in about the same location as before.
