Tie Rod Adjust Sleeves??? for a 67 w/ PS

Alright i ordered up new front end parts the other day all but the pitman arm and the tie rod adjust sleeves. Heres the thing. The chassis i'm using was not the one for the truck i have. It is marked that it's a 67. It has a power steering box on it not quite sure which one but lock to lock is 3.5 turns and i believe from my reading stock was 4.5. So with that being said it looks like someone hung a newer style box on sometime in that frames history. My little dilema is with the tie rod adjust sleeves. From looking thorugh the magazines they have a seperate list item fo rthe 67 w/power steering sleeves but there about 4 times the price. How can i tell what ones i need, because if someone threw a power box on the chassis then they could be the manual ones i guess but i don't see why there would be a difference between any of them unless the centerlink was different. Off the top of my head these ones measured out at 6" and were split the whole length. Also i found this in my searching its a reference to look up Federal Mogul and Moog parts by typing in the year make and model. https://mfr.activant.com/mfrserv/extsrv

The steering box won't affect which tierod ends or sleeves you should use but the center link will. If you use the 67-70 center link with the 71-72 disc spindles then you will need to follow this thread. If you use the 71-72 centerlink with the 71-72 then use the sleeves that are used on a 71-72.

I'm upgrading to disc but i'm going with ECE so all the 67 stuff will bolt up. So even though the part says for manual steering it should work. which is what i was thinking. really as long as the length is the same it should be fine. i guess. Thanks. raggedjim

Re: Tie Rod Adjust Sleeves??? for a 67 w/ PS

Are you sure it`s a`67 frame? They never came with the same p/s set-up as 68-72.It was a ram-assist type.I haven`t looked at one in years, but I think there`s mount locations in the tie rod. What you call the adjusting sleeve is the actual tie rod,right?The`67 frame lacked the indentation in the rail to accomodate the p/s gear. The two ways to mount p/s boxes on`67 frames are to use spacers off the frame or heat and hammer out a dimple.

Re: Tie Rod Adjust Sleeves??? for a 67 w/ PS

I'll have to check but i got a p/s box on both of my frames which are not from the 67 cab but the first digit on them is 7 i believe but now i'll have to double check. Alright just ran out and checked th frame at my house altohugh this ain't the one i'm using and someone did hang a solid axle under it but there is a p/s box on it and from what i remember looks exact as my other frame. The number on this one is 7T123205. At least the first few you can make out which means this frame is a 67 and the other photo shows that this frame fits the box fine. I don't know the links that are on my frame now are straight and are 6" long. the manual ones i've found are bulgy in the middle. According to rock auto spicer/raybestos 4251003 has the right one it just don't make sense why it's 3 times the price. Also from what i've found moog use to make the one i need key word use to i believe the number is ES374S.
