found a 69-70 gmc today for parts at the scrapyard...
went looking for some 2" thickwall square tubing..asked an older fella there, hes like, WHYRE YOU LOWERING YOUR TRUCK!! JUST KEEP A LOAD IN IT, HOW OLD ARE YOU! YOU LIVE AT HOME, YOUR FOLKS KNOW YOUR DOING THIS!! (He liked my truck and i guess doesnt like lowered trucks lol) then another guy walked by and says 68?? i said 'yes sir" (try to use my mannners) then he replied 'DONT CALL ME SIR'....and passed soem 67-72s on my way home, saw 1 for sale stopped and looked it was a cheyenne super rusted pretty good...for sale 6k!!! i took soem pics and walked off....okay heres the ?
the gmc had a sport rear bumper, i asked nother fella how much he watned for the bumper/brackets, he said 25$ if i pull it off, will that bumper fit on my truck with the donor being a gmc??!? oh and it needs painting, could i just sand it down shoot spray can primer, then some spray can white? and its got a reciever hitch thing under that, is that worth snagging too? it had the oil temp, oil pressure voltmeter and antoher blank guage in the dash..could i make this work in my 3 guage dash? i have aftermarket ones but would like to clean the inside cab up some.... okay, i have an 8 blade fan and ihave a fan shroud with too small of an opening for my fan, is that fan original, i wanna insall my shroud,,but cant cause my fans too big....the gmc has a 4 blade fan could i put the 4 blade fan on my truck and use my shroud or is there a better aproach to this? its a lwb and has drums..... is there anything else i should snag up, its gotta uncut dash and the cabs not that rusty at all?!?!!!? oh andd better news, somebodys gonna give me a 67 lwb 2x4 rollling frame lol, i wanna cut it down to a swb and start a LONG term project!! thanks!

I have never done it, but the bodies and frames match up almost exact in most cases. Bumpers shouldn't be an issue, unless someone else knows better. If there is no rust, grab as many parts as you can

no differences between GMC and Chevrolet rear bumper brackets and rear sport bumpers. that's a rarity find a rear sport setup. all I have ever found was the huge boat anchor step bumpers!

My truck has the cast-iron step bumper and a hitch receiver. I bought a chrome rear bumper (what you call sport) and it had a hitch receiver beneath it. You'll have to notch the license plate mount, if it is like mine.

Thanks oldblue, I would really appreciate it. I'll have to agree, if that bumoer has been on there for 40 years your going to need to eat some Wheaties in the morning. Take along a long pipe to add some leverage to your wrench or ratchet, that helps alot. I think the bolts are 3/4.

On the swapping of the gauge clusters, it won't be a plug and play.

Re: found a 69-70 gmc today for parts at the scrapyard...
like everybody said, take at least a breaker bar. a buddy wouldn't hurt either. the 7 guage cluster has more wiring than the 3 guage, so you'd be better off with your current set-up IMO(but i don't like wiring). It also sounds like you have clutch fan, which I don't see why it's not working with your shroud?? The 4 blade is just the standard fan. Are you sure you have the right shroud? hope this helps
